We spent the night in Brooks at a 60's-era hotel named after the first com satellite, "Tel-Star". The sign was offically designated a "heritage monument" but thankfully the motel itself was recently renovated to modern standards. In the morning we drove to Dinosaur Provincial Park. The only fossils we saw were in the field station / visitor's centre which doesn't officially open till after Victoria Day. We were practically the only ones there and got a chance to explore a small piece of the badlands and get some cool pictures of the geological formations without crowds of people in the way. Apparently the melting snow erodes the landscape a little more each year so there's always a chance that new fossils are uncovered. We hiked around the fossil hunters trail but didn't make any new discoveries.
