The Viking Trail

Since we're about half way through our trek, we decided to have an oil change before setting off on the Viking Trail towards the most northern tip of Newfoundland. It was very, very windy (apparently normal for here). There were showers but gradually by early afternoon it was dry but cloudy. We passed through Gros Morne National Park but couldn't see the mountains because of the clouds. The Viking Trail wound some 300 km northward along the Gulf of St Lawrence, quite deserted and occasionally interrupted by small fishing settlements. We had fish n' chips (what else?!) for lunch in Rocky Harbour, Newfoundland's second most important fishing town. In the hours before dusk, we saw four moose feeding along the road. We camped at the most northern tip of Newfoundland, at the only campsite in this place, where the word "remote" was realized and accommodations were definitely spartan.
