We spent the morning discovering the surrounding of Valleyfield. The area is dotted with waterways and canals, lined with tiny villages with quaint little old houses and churches with spires that seem to reach all the way to heaven. It was a beautiful sunny day, temp. approx. 28. We passed from a dam in the St. Lawrence river and saw a large container ship pass through a set of locks with only inches to spare on either side.
After lunch we got ready to visit friends in Laval (east side of Montreal). This time it was Pandelis`(from Brandon, Man.) brother Lambis and his Chypriot wife Tina. Before going out to supper, we were treated to homemade Eliopita (olive bread) a real Chypriot specialty, and Artemis and me managed to pry away the authentic recipe from Tina. I`m sure there will be takers for this at home. Especially my two grandsons, Ryker and Kian, who both eat olives by the handful, although they are only one quarter Greek. After hours of stories about the Olden days in Egypt (they all grew up together there) and looking at pictures of old common friends and schoolmates (you know what happened to him and guess whom he married etc.) we said goodbyè over tiny cups if strong sweet and black Greek coffee.
